iOS 27: All the news about the Calendar and Reminders apps

Apple continues to expand the capabilities of Apple Intelligence in iOS 27 , transforming two of the iPhone’s most everyday apps, Calendar and Reminders , into much smarter time and task management tools. While the design of the apps remains largely familiar, new AI features fundamentally change the way users organize their schedules.

iOS 27 Calendar Reminders

Calendar: Creating events with natural language

One of the most important additions is natural language in Calendar support . Users can now create new events by typing simple descriptions, without having to fill in each field individually.

For example, entering a phrase like “meeting with George at 2 p.m. on July 14” allows the system to recognize people, dates, and times. The app automatically suggests the information it detects, significantly reducing the time it takes to create a new appointment.

Although the feature has not yet reached the level of automation of applications like Fantastical, it is an important step towards a more natural and human interaction with the software.

Reminders: Smart reminders that understand content

Reminders is also getting a similar upgrade . The app can now understand complex commands and automatically fill in metadata, such as date, time, and location.

Commands like “pick up the groceries at 6pm” or “send the photos to John tomorrow at 4pm” are automatically converted into full reminders, without the need for additional steps.

The feature is still in beta and doesn't always work perfectly, but the direction is clear: Apple is looking to eliminate as many barriers as possible between the user's thoughts and the execution of an action.

Redesigned for greater speed

The integration of AI also comes with small but significant changes to the interface. In Reminders, the traditional toolbar at the bottom of the screen has been removed, with additional features now moved to the “Details” menu.

At the same time, editing events in Calendar is faster and easier. Changing the time, duration, or recurrence frequency of an event is now done in fewer steps, while the system can intelligently apply the modifications to all related events.

Siri becomes truly aware of your schedule

Perhaps the biggest change is the new generation of Siri. The digital assistant gains deeper apps Calendar and Reminders, allowing you to create, edit, and search for events with simple voice commands.

The user can now ask Siri to create a recurring appointment, search for next week's obligations, or even add an event received via Mail or Messages.

In practice, Siri is gradually transforming from a simple voice assistant into a personal digital organizer that understands the context of daily activities.

Visual Intelligence takes on the task of entering many facts

iOS 27 brings another very practical feature through Visual Intelligence. Users can take a photo of a schedule of events or activities and the system will automatically recognize the dates and times.

So, a schedule of sports training, school events, or business meetings can be turned into multiple Calendar entries in a matter of seconds.

Smarter widgets and shopping lists

The Calendar and Reminders apps also get new extra-large widgets, which can take up an entire page on the iPhone home screen, offering instant access to information and tasks.

At the same time, grocery lists in Reminders have been significantly improved, with better automatic categorization and support for more languages.

The Shortcuts is also enriched with new actions that allow you to create, delete, and manage lists and groups of reminders in an automated way.

The new iPhone philosophy

The changes in iOS 27 reveal Apple's overall strategy around artificial intelligence. Rather than focusing solely on impressive creative content production, the company is investing in automating small, everyday actions that are performed dozens of times a day.

The new Apple Intelligence capabilities are available exclusively on iPhone 15 Pro and later, confirming that the next generation of AI experiences will be inextricably linked to Apple's cutting-edge hardware ecosystem.
