The lack of color options for events in Google Calendar shouldn't be a problem going forward. The previous limit of 11 preset colors has now been expanded, giving users access to up to 200 custom colors for individual events in the native Calendar apps for web and mobile, as well as the Calendar API.

This upgrade began rolling out yesterday to users in Google's fast-track domains, with a broader rollout to more users starting June 29, though the update may take a few weeks to reach everyone. It's available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers , and users with personal Google accounts and will be enabled by default, Google said in a statement.
There are now 24 preset colors to choose from, but Calendar users on the web (or via the API) can set additional colors using a full RGB color picker. Google says this update “fulfills a long-standing feature request” for more color options, as it’s pretty easy to exhaust the previous 11 color presets — especially if you use Calendar for both personal and professional events.
Now each event can have its own color instead of being shared with other unrelated events, making them easier to identify at a glance.
