Google is upgrading its artificial intelligence (AI) search capabilities to make it easier for users to find information from sources they know and trust. One of the most notable changes introduces a “preview of perspectives” from primary sources like social media, Reddit, and other online forums, essentially connecting your searches to online conversations around similar topics.
Google says this update is intended to help “people who are increasingly seeking advice from others” when searching for information online. This will certainly help many users who add the word “Reddit” to the end of their Google search terms to find experiences from real people instead of SEO-optimized website results.

Google: AI-powered search tools – All the changes
By incorporating these features into its AI search tools, Google is trying to encourage more users to try them out instead of manually searching through traditional website results on Google Search. Google says it is also adding additional context to these new AI answer links, such as the creator's name, nickname, or community name (to make sources more easily identifiable).
These primary sources are presented as “Expert Tips” in AI search results and can direct users to specific, niche forums and subreddits they may wish to explore further.
“For example, if you’re researching how to take great photos of the northern lights, you might see excerpts from a photography forum advising on exposure time, along with clickable links – with the specific community name – so you can jump to the full conversation,” Google said in its announcement.
Google is also adding more links to useful websites next to the relevant text in AI answers. These are intended to be relevant to the user’s query, but not necessarily to the answer they’re looking for (e.g., travel guides and training suggestions when searching for information about cycling routes).

Another change adds suggestions for related topics at the end of AI answers to encourage users to explore further the topic they’re researching. For example, if users search for how cities are expanding green spaces, Google can now show suggested reports and case studies of successful efforts in major cities along with the results summary.
Finally, Google is making it easier to find specific sources with a new feature that highlights links from your news subscriptions in AI Mode and AI Overviews (at least for publishers that support subscription linking). This means your trusted sources of information should stand out more.
