Did you grow up with Lego? A new project on Kickstarter is built with Lego in mind. The Kano is a computer kit designed to make it super easy for you to build a computer from scratch, and also learn basic coding skills. It runs on a Raspberry Pi, has an 8GB SD card, a keyboard, speakers, HDMI and mini-USB cables.
For coding, the kit includes Kano OS, a Debian Linux distribution, and Kano Blocks, a dynamic programming application that lets you write code and then convert it to Javascript or Python. The project, as mentioned above, is currently seeking funding through Kickstarter with a goal of securing $100,000, but it seems to have far exceeded its initial goal, having raised more than $600,000. The kit costs $119 and is expected to be released in July 2014.
