Yahoo is expanding its efforts to protect its users' online activities from prying eyes by encrypting all communications and other information flowing into the company's online data centers around the world.
The pledge announced Monday by Yahoo Inc Chief Executive Marissa Mayer follows a recent Washington Post report that the National Security Agency has hacked into Yahoo and Google Incto intercept information about what people do and say when they are online.
Yahoo had promised to encrypt its email service since early January. Now, the company plans to have all data encrypted by the end of March, making it harder for unauthorized users to decrypt information.
