A very tempting offer was rejected by the 23-year-old creator of the popular app Snapchat, Evan Spiegel, according to the Wall Street Journal. As the American newspaper reports, Facebook, after Instagram, Luma and Lightbox, wants to acquire other apps to enhance its functionality. For this reason, it made an acquisition proposal to the video messaging service, Snapchat.
However, the well-known instant messaging service was not presented as particularly available and thus rejected every proposal submitted by the owner of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg. In fact, the American's final offer reached three billion dollars. As «generous» as the Facebook offer might have been, the owner of Snapchat remained consistently negative about the possibility of selling his service.
Seeing the great impact that Snapchat has among younger ages, Mark Zuckerberg wanted to add to Facebook's features the application through which one can exchange messages, photos and videos. It is certain that this way, Facebook would become much more attractive especially via smartphones.
Evan Spigel's app, which refused to join Facebook, is only two years old but has already become quite well known. A characteristic fact is that every day, this service is used to transfer 350 million files.
It is worth noting that if the agreement «closed» then we would be talking about the most expensive acquisition Facebook has ever made, which last year acquired Instagram for a billion dollars.
