Apple is reportedly testing an upgraded version of the iPhone keyboard with autocorrect improvements in iOS 27, according to a report from Bloomberg this week.

The report says the keyboard “extends autocorrect by offering alternative words,” similar to tools like Grammarly. “It suggests alternative words in addition to word corrections like today’s autocorrect,” Gurman said in a follow-up post on social media.
Grammarly has been evolving to use AI in recent years, so perhaps the expanded autocorrect system in the iPhone keyboard is powered by Apple Intelligence. The report didn't provide further details, so we'll have to wait and see.

Gurman briefly mentioned the keyboard plans in a report focusing on how Siri can handle multiple requests in a single query in iOS 27.
Apple hasn't made a final decision on whether to release the upgraded keyboard, according to Gurman, but if it does, it will likely debut as part of iOS 27. The first developer beta of iOS 27 is expected to be released in June, and the software update should be widely available in September.
