In his new Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman reiterated that iOS 27 will be similar to 2009's Mac OS X Snow Leopard, in the sense that one of Apple's biggest priorities is bug fixes for improved performance and stability.
At WWDC 2008, Apple made a presentation saying that Mac OS X Snow Leopard had “0 new features,” as it chose to focus on improving performance and stability. Technically, the update included a few smaller new features, but Apple focused mostly on bug fixes and changes to the Mac’s backend.

“ We’ve built on the success of Leopard and created an even better experience for our users , from installation to shutdown ,” said Bertrand Serlet , Apple’s former head of software engineering . “ Apple engineers have made hundreds of improvements. So with Snow Leopard, your system will feel faster, more responsive, and even more reliable than before .”
iOS 27: Few new features, performance improvements
iOS 27 will also include a few new features, including a more personalized version of Siri. The update is expected to be announced in June and released in September.

The example of Snow Leopard shows that a software release doesn't necessarily have to be packed with new features to be considered significant. Instead, focusing on stability, speed, and reliability can significantly improve users' everyday experience, even if the changes aren't immediately visible.
