A "smart" bodysuit that monitors a baby's activity levels, body temperature, posture and breathing was developed by the company Rest Devices.
The bodysuit, called Mimo, is made from 100% organic cotton and is equipped with washable sensors.
The sensors send the data they collect to a turtle-shaped Wi-Fi device, which transmits it in real time to parents' mobile phones.
In addition to the data they receive, parents can also hear the sounds their baby makes.
The technology automatically informs parents if any change occurs, e.g. in breathing rate, allowing them to know at any time whether their child is sleeping comfortably or if a problem has arisen.
The bodysuit is available on the Dragon Innovation page, which sells innovative products, and will hit store shelves in January 2014.
The three-piece set costs $200.
