In 2020, Apple added a digital car key feature to the Wallet app , allowing users to lock, unlock, and start a compatible vehicle with an iPhone or Apple Watch. The feature is already offered by select automakers, including Audi, BMW, Hyundai, Kia, Genesis, Mercedes-Benz, and Volvo . Now, it appears that Toyota is also supporting Apple Wallet digital keys

According to a Reddit post, select versions of the 2026 Toyota RAV4 will support Apple Wallet digital key functionality in the United States , at least. It's not yet confirmed whether the feature will be extended to other Toyota models for the 2026 model year.
Toyota: How the new keys work via Apple Wallet
Toyota’s implementation of the feature uses Ultra Wideband technology , allowing drivers to approach the vehicle, open the door and start the vehicle, all with their iPhone in their pocket or Apple Watch on their wrist. This passive entry feature requires the user to have an iPhone 11 or later (excluding iPhone SE 2, iPhone SE 3 and iPhone 16e) or an Apple Watch Series 6 or later .

A few months ago, MacRumors was the first to report that Toyota was planning to offer digital car keys through Apple Wallet, so this release was expected. It appears that the feature requires a subscription to Toyota Remote Connect, which starts at $15 per month. It's worth noting that a free one-year trial of Remote Connect is included with the purchase of a new Toyota vehicle.
