Less than two days ago, OpenAI unveiled its first standalone AI browser, called ChatGPT Atlas. It’s an AI-powered browser that hopes to dethrone Google Chrome. Adam Fry, head of Atlas at OpenAI, said the team is already “committed to improving it” and revealed a number of new features that are coming.

“are coming Profiles!” Fry said. Tab grouping and an optional ad blocker are also on the way. These features, common to many popular web browsers, are included in a list of “post-release fixes” for Atlas. Most of them will be available “in the coming weeks,” according to Fry, “though some may take a little longer.”

The list includes a number of quality of use improvements, such as an overflow bookmarks menu and a list of shortcuts.

Changes are also coming to the browser’s core AI features . This includes the agent — which is only available to ChatGPT Plus and Pro users for now and can take actions for you — and the Ask ChatGPT sidebar , which integrates the company’s main chatbot . The agent will get better response times , a more reliable “pause” feature , and improved integration with products like Google Drive and cloud Excel . As for Ask ChatGPT, it will be easier to use without having to leave the current page and will allow you to select different projects or AI models directly without having to navigate elsewhere.

“If you have more suggestions for us, let us know!” Fry said. His responses to the suggestions show that OpenAI already has a stable prototype that would allow users to copy and paste text directly from the Ask ChatGPT sidebar. He also mentioned that it would be a good idea if the browser automatically opened pinned tabs when it was closed and restarted.

Fry said the team is also working on some "specific," though unspecified, fixes for the password manager 1Password. "There are other things we're working on, but those may involve partners, and we've left those off this list."
