Amazon has long been rumored to be building smart glasses for its delivery drivers before launching a consumer version. Now, Amazon has unveiled these smart glasses , dubbed “ Amelia ,” which feature a built-in screen and always-on camera to help drivers on the job.
Amazon: How do smart glasses help drivers?
They can help drivers find the right packages inside delivery trucks, provide them with step-by-step navigation directions to the right address , and take a hands-free photo of a successful delivery (instead of having to pull out their phone).

“If there are hazards or if they need to navigate complex environments like apartment buildings, the glasses will guide [drivers] safely to their destination,” Amazon claims, showing video clips showing what drivers should see as they work.
The glasses are not standalone — they are attached to a vest that contains a battery and a button that the driver can press to take a photo of each successful delivery.
There also appears to be a rotary switch around this button, and Amazon writes that the controller also features a dedicated emergency button to call for help.
Amazon hasn't specified what sensors are inside the glasses, but the images suggest they may have two cameras: one centered above the nose and one above the temple. Amazon also says the glasses have transition lenses — they'll darken in sunlight and clear without it — and support prescription lenses.

While the company doesn't say exactly when or where the glasses will be released, it says that hundreds of drivers have already tested early versions of the technology and that it wants to incorporate more AI features.
“We expect future versions of the glasses to provide real-time defect detection, where the glasses can alert drivers if they have accidentally left a package at a customer’s door that does not match the house or apartment number on the package, detect hazards such as low light and adjust the lenses, notify that there is a pet in the yard, and more,” Amazon writes.
The frames look relatively thin in the photos released, but — like the Meta Display and other glasses with built-in screens — they don't seem to be at the level of consumer glasses yet.

The Information reported in September that Amazon's consumer smart glasses (codenamed "Jayhawk") could launch in 2026 or 2027. Reuters, which originally reported the glasses for delivery drivers, noted that they were codenamed "Amelia," and indeed some of Amazon's images today have the word "Amelia" in their name.
