Google Cloud experienced an outage that caused problems for many online services. The first reports of problems with Google products and other services began around 9 p.m. The company managed to restore its own applications, but several other businesses are still experiencing problems for some users.

In an update at 11:16 p.m., Google said: “We have identified the root cause and implemented appropriate remediation measures. Our infrastructure has recovered in all regions except us-central1. products that rely on the affected infrastructure are showing signs of recovery in many locations. Our engineers are aware of ongoing issues with customers in the us-central1 and multi-region/us regions and are actively working to restore full availability. We do not yet have an estimate for a full recovery time.”
Spotify, Discord, Snapchat, Etsy, UPS and Google cloud services OpenAI all saw an increase in problem reports on DownDetector, with some notifying users of outages. Even Pokémon Trading Card Game and Pokémon Go were not spared from technical issues. Snapchat acknowledged the ongoing issues via its support page.
OpenAI announcedthatissues users may experience difficulties logging into their accounts due to “affecting multiple external internet providers.”

AWS also recorded an increased number of reports on DownDetector during the outage, however Amazon clarified in a statement to Engadget that it is not experiencing widespread problems in its services and noted that the AWS Health Dashboard provides a more accurate picture of the status of its services than DownDetector.
Almost all services have now returned to normal operation. By 12 a.m., the main Spotify page was loading normally for our editors and outage reports on DownDetector had dropped almost to the usual levels. Other platforms, such as Snapchat and Discord, also seemed to be functioning normally for us.
Google said at the time that its products were gradually being restored in many regions and that full restoration was expected “in less than an hour.” However, as of 2:13 a.m., the company noted that some Google Cloud components were still experiencing performance issues.

Dataflow , Vertex AI Online Prediction , and Personalized Service Health are still impacted to some extent, and the company has not yet given an estimate for when full normality will be restored.
