Google Meet launched auto-framing for video calls about two years ago, but the feature was only available on select versions of Google Workspace. Starting today, auto-framing is available to all Google Meet users, regardless of whether they pay for Google Workspace or not.

What is automatic framing?
Every now and then, some meeting participants may be less visible than others due to their camera placement. Google Meet introduced auto-framing in 2022 to ensure equal visibility for all participants.
Auto-framing only happens once, so there won't be any motion distractions that would distract from the content . Additionally, Google Meet users can reframe the video at any time from the settings.

Besides, Google Meet will constantly keep users centered when using a virtual background, just to make sure the background is stable and doesn't constantly reframe, which can be distracting.
According to Google, the Google Meet auto-framing feature will be enabled by default, but can be disabled by the user at any time. As for availability, this is currently rolling out and will take about 15 days for everyone enrolled in the Fast Track domains.

On the other hand, planned release domains won't get it until December 2 at the earliest. All Google Meet users should be enjoying the benefits of automatic framing by December 17.
