The update to Google Meet Picture-in-Picture is simple, but there is certainly an improvement in the user experience. This update will ensure that your meeting remains visible and accessible in cases where you need to take notes, view documents, and more.
Google Meet introduced an upgraded Picture-in-Picture( PiP) experience for Chrome on desktops last year, whereas before, you had to manually enable it from the menu.

Google announced that the Google Meet service will no longer require Chrome users to press the Picture-in-Picture (PiP) button each time they want to use this feature. Instead, the function will be activated automatically when the user opens a different tab.
The Picture-in-Picture feature is a tool that allows you to display a small, movable version of the Google Meet interface (UI), which overlays any content you browse.
The Picture-in-Picture feature is available only on a computer and only through Google Chrome. Also, it is worth noting that there is no control from the administrator for this capability.

This new feature is enabled by default, but you can disable it by clicking the “Site information” icon on the left of the URL address bar. To disable it you must click the “Automatic Picture-in-Picture mode”
This feature is being released today and will be fully available in the coming weeks and will be accessible to all Google Workspace users, to Workspace Individual subscribers, and to users with personal Google accounts who use Chrome Desktop.
