Since the launch of Gemini, Google has been incorporating the power of artificial intelligence (AI) into various products and services, including Gmail. Recently, Google announced the “Help me write” feature for Gmail, allowing users to effectively compose their emails with various features, such as Formalize and Elaborate. Now, Google is expanding this feature by adding the new Gemini Polish.

Google is upgrading its Gemini writing tools in Gmail to help you improve the drafts you’ve already written. Now, among the “Help me write” options provided by Gemini, you can select the “Polish” option to improve your Gmail drafts. Google has also added shortcuts that appear in the body of your emails on Android and iOS, making it more obvious that there are AI-powered writing tools available.

The tools are available to those who pay for Google One AI Premium or have paid for the Gemini to Google Workspace . If you’re one of those users, when you open a blank draft, you’ll see a “Help me write” shortcut that you can tap to have Gemini generate text. Once you have 12 or more words in a draft (whether AI-written or not), a new “Refine my draft” shortcut will appear, displayed in gray letters below the words.
