Waymo's self-driving vehicles have been available on the Uber app in Phoenix since October of last year. Uber has announced several similar partnerships with self-driving vehicles. Last month, it said it was working with Cruise GM's and Wayve.
Waymo has its own autonomous transportation, Waymo One, in San Francisco, Phoenix and Los Angeles. The company began testing its robotaxis in Atlanta and transporting its own employees around Austin earlier this year.
However, Waymo said that only Uber users will be able to use the Jaguar I-PACE AV in the two cities. Additionally, Waymo said that a limited number of users will be able to access rides in Austin and Atlanta through the Waymo One app.

Waymo did not say how many autonomous vehicles it will deploy to the two cities, but said its fleet “will grow to hundreds of vehicles over time.” Uber will handle fleet management (e.g., cleaning and repairing the cars).
