Uber aims to make your trip to the airport, concerts or sporting events more affordable .

On Wednesday, the company announced the introduction of Uber Shuttle, a new service that allows passengers to book up to five seats on a shuttle bus that will depart from central locations to events or the airport, offering a more affordable option than a typical Uber ride. Additionally, the cost of the shuttle service will not be subject to price increases, addressing a common concern for passengers during peak demand periods.

Passengers will be able to reserve their seat up to a week in advance, receiving a QR code ticket for boarding. Uber plans to develop partnerships with local transportation companies and licensed professional drivers to offer this service. At the same time, users will be able to rate drivers and provide tips through the Uber app, as they do with any other ride.
Uber has already conducted initial test rides, including in countries like India, offering its services to business customers. The feature will be available to US consumers this summer, focusing on events in select cities like Chicago, Pittsburgh, Charlotte and Miami, with plans to expand in the coming months.
The Uber Shuttle launch was just one of many exciting new features announced during the company’s annual product launch on Wednesday. The announcements also included the Uber One membership program with special discounts for students, as well as the new ability for Uber Eats users to order from Costco stores without the need for a membership with the retail chain.
Recent announcements aim to give users even more reasons to choose its products, with an emphasis on group travel and discount offers. This strategy is being implemented at a time when consumers are limiting their spending due to increased prices on various goods, from groceries to clothing. In addition, Uber’s expansion of its activities beyond traditional transportation has significantly contributed to its leadership position against competitor Lyft.
“The simple act of sharing, whether it’s for rides or groceries, makes your everyday life more economical,” CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said during the company’s product launch event in New York on Wednesday.
Among Uber’s recent announcements on Wednesday, a new feature aimed at caregivers stands out. This feature allows them to book rides, order groceries, buy medical supplies and other over-the-counter products for the people they care for. In some cases, where applicable, the person receiving care could have their medical benefits cover the cost of rides and purchases. Additionally, a three-way chat feature will make it easier for caregivers, riders and drivers to communicate. The initiative draws inspiration from a similar service that allows healthcare providers to book rides for patients.

Uber will now offer users to book seats on shared rides, a feature called Uber Pool, which will allow passengers to share a ride with other people who are going to a similar destination, thus securing a significant discount. The move was inspired by increased usage of the app during rush hour. The feature will initially be available in major cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, San Diego and Atlanta, before becoming available in more areas.
“Sharing is a key element for the future of urban centers on our scale,” Camiel Irving, head of mobility in the US and Canada, said on Wednesday.
