The latest version of Chrome introduces an upgraded Safety Checkup, simplified notification management, and one-time site permissions, improving the browsing experience for millions of users around the world.
The centerpiece of Chrome’s new security features is the revamped Safety Checkup, which now runs automatically in the background. This proactive tool keeps users safe by revoking permissions from sites they no longer visit, flagging potentially harmful notifications, and more. Users will be notified of any actions taken, ensuring transparency and awareness.
Safety Checkup also protects against abusive notifications by automatically revoking permissions from websites identified by Google Safe Browsing as deceptive. On desktop ,it will alert users to potentially dangerous Chrome extensions and guide them to a summary panel where they can easily manage or remove them.
Additionally, Security Checkup ensures users have the latest security patches and can check their passwords for vulnerabilities. In response to user feedback, Google has also optimized the process of opting out of unwanted website notifications.

On Pixel devices , and coming soon to more Android devices , users can now tap an “ Unsubscribe ” button right in the notification bar to stop receiving notifications from specific websites. This feature has already reduced notification volume by 30% on supported Pixel devices, and Google plans to expand this feature across its ecosystem.

Recognizing the need for greater privacy control, Chrome now offers one-time permissions for Android and Desktop. This feature allows users to temporarily access sensitive data, such as the camera or microphone, for a single session.
Once the user leaves the site, these permissions are automatically revoked, preventing unauthorized use. This improvement enables users to manage their online privacy more effectively by ensuring that sites cannot access data without explicit consent.
With these new features, Google continues to position Chrome as a leader in browser security and user privacy. The updates reflect a commitment to providing a more secure and controlled browsing experience, allowing users to explore the web with confidence.
As online threats evolve, Google's proactive approach to security ensures that Chrome remains a trusted tool for navigating the digital world.
