Microsoft begins forced Windows 22H2 system upgrade

“Windows 11, version 23H2, is now entering a new phase. We are starting to update eligible Windows 11 devices automatically to version 23H2,” Microsoft said at the time.

“This automatic update targets Windows 11 devices that have reached or are nearing the end of support and follows the machine learning (ML)-based training we've used so far.“

The forced upgrade from Microsoft came after automatically updating systems running many versions of Windows 11 21H2 to Windows 11 22H2 before support ended on October 11.

A forced Windows upgrade refers to the process of manually installing a new version of the Windows operating system, bypassing the regular update channels. This can be done using an installation tool or by downloading the update directly from Microsoft's website. Users often resort to a forced upgrade when they are experiencing problems with automatic updates, want to ensure they have the latest features, or need to upgrade to a newer version that is not yet available through their current setup.
