SearchGPT: OpenAI is testing its own AI search engine

OpenAI has announced a new search engine, SearchGPT, based on artificial intelligence (AI).

The company has already begun testing SearchGPT, which will combine AI technology with real-time information from the web. The company's goal is to help users search for information in the same way they talk in ChatGPT.

The search engine is currently in early testing, but OpenAI plans to integrate the tools into ChatGPT in the future.

With SearchGPT, OpenAI is increasing competition and preparing to directly "hit" Google, which has dominated the online search market for years.

With the new search engine, users will be able to ask questions in natural language, as they speak in ChatGPT, and receive answers. Based on those answers, they will be able to ask additional questions. However, unlike ChatGPT, which often relies on older data to generate its answers, SearchGPT will provide up-to-date information with links to trusted sources.

The tool will also display a sidebar with additional links to related information.

“Getting answers from the web can be a lot of effort, and it may take multiple attempts to get relevant results,” the company said in a post. “We believe that by enhancing our models’ conversational capabilities with web , finding what you’re looking for can be faster and easier.

About two months ago, Google began displaying AI-generated summaries at the top of some search results pages. This feature allowed users to see useful information without having to click through multiple links. Google quickly phased out the feature after it provided false and, in some cases, completely absurd information.

The launch of Google's tool also sparked backlash from some news publishers, who were concerned that summaries could impact their traffic.

Similar concerns could arise with OpenAI's search engine, but OpenAI said it worked with publishers to create the tool and give them options to "manage how they appear" in SearchGPT results.

OpenAI is trying to attract more users by introducing this search engine and integrating advanced artificial intelligence. The company hopes that its search engine will provide more accurate and relevant information, significantly improving the user experience.

Artificial intelligence will allow the machine to better understand the preferences and needs of each user, offering more targeted and useful answers.

Finally, OpenAI aims to attract users through a friendly and easy-to-use interface for SearchGPT. The emphasis on simplicity and ease of use will make the search engine more appealing to a wide range of users, from tech-savvy to novices.
