Kneron , an artificial intelligence chip startup , unveiled its next-generation products on Wednesday .
Its goal is to attract business interest in the field of artificial intelligence and offer a reliable alternative to large companies such as Nvidia and AMD.

The Taiwanese company, with the support of US chip giant Qualcomm and iPhone assembly company Foxconn, has completed the KNEO 330, its second-generation "edge GPT" server.
GPT refers to artificial intelligence algorithms that have been trained on huge amounts of data and can produce text and images. A prime example is OpenAI.
Many businesses looking to harness the power of AI today rely on companies like Microsoft and Amazon through their cloud services . So-called “hyperscalers” procure massive amounts of chips from companies like Nvidia to train large AI models in data centers equipped with complex servers.
Kneron believes that businesses will not want to constantly rely on cloud giants for their AI needs.
In contrast, the KNEO 330 is aimed at businesses that want to run their own AI applications from their own premises, without relying on remote servers owned by large cloud providers.
“There is a strong need in the market, especially in large high-tech companies, medical centers and financial institutions, for privacy protection,” Albert Liu, CEO of Kneron, told CNBC ahead of the product launch. “They don’t want to upload their data to OpenAI.”.
Liu believes that businesses may not want to hand over their data to third parties to use AI tools. However, with Kneron's technology, companies can develop their own AI applications using the servers .
The Kneron launch comes just days after Nvidia and AMD unveiled their latest AI chips, with both companies accelerating the pace of new releases. Nvidia and AMD are aimed at the massive data centers of tech giants, capable of training giant AI models.

On Wednesday, Kneron announced that its new chip, the KL830, will be in a new computer. The move is a challenge to companies like Intel and AMD that make computer chips. The KL830 will allow the computer to run artificial intelligence applications locally, without needing an internet connection. This will enhance privacy protection, as data will not be exposed online.
