Microsoft Patch Tuesday June 2024: Fixes a zero-day bug

As mentioned above, this month's Patch Tuesday fixes a zero-day vulnerability that was previously publicly disclosed. Generally, Microsoft classifies a vulnerability as a zero-daywhen it is disclosed or actively exploited without an official patch being released.

The zero-day vulnerability is related to a “Keytrap” attack in the DNS protocol. It is tracked as CVE-2023-50868 and is an “issue in DNSSEC validation, where an attacker could exploit standard DNSSEC protocols intended for DNS integrity, using excessive resources in a resolver, causing a denial of service condition for legitimate users.”
