Microsoft Outlook Lite is specifically designed to offer users all the essential features of the email app in a small package, ideal for phones with limited memory.

Although Microsoft developed Outlook Lite to include the most important features that users might need, there were some shortcomings in important features.

One of the notable features was SMS support, which Outlook Lite, released in 2022, didn't have until this week. Microsoft just announced that it's bringing SMS support to Outlook Lite for Android around the world.
Additionally, Microsoft announced that SMS will be integrated with email, calendar, and contacts, allowing users to keep in touch with all the people in their address book through a single application.
To start using SMS in Outlook Lite, you need to upgrade to the latest version of the app, available in the Google Play Store. If you already have the latest version, follow these steps to use this new feature :
- Open Outlook Lite and click on the icon on the bottom tab labeled “SMS”.
- Grant the required permissions to enable SMS.
- You can now send and receive SMS messages from Outlook Lite.

In addition to SMS support, Microsoft plans to add additional features and improvements to this feature . For example, the Redmond-based company has confirmed its plans for tighter integration with email, calendar, and contacts, as well as cloud backup of messages and improved security features.
