EA dismisses rumors of a canceled Dead Space 2 remake: “ There is no credibility to this story ”
It's never pleasant to have to mention a game that's definitely not going to happen, especially when it has such great development potential like the Dead Space 2 remake. But it does sound like the sequel to the excellent 2023 Dead Space remake isn't coming anytime soon.

On Wednesday, Grubb said during the Game Mess Mornings podcast that EA Motive had begun preliminary work on a Dead Space 2 remake, but ultimately scrapped the project due to low sales from the first remake. However, EA Motive was quick to shoot down Grubb's report with this statement obtained by IGN: "We don't usually comment on rumors, but there is no credibility to this story."

IGN's report validates EA's statement that the studio never considered a Dead Space 2 remake. Grubb, for his part, maintained his position in response to IGN's statement and report.
“I give you permission to believe EA if you want, but anytime a company says 'that's not true' but doesn't specify what part of the story they mean, uh, yeah,” Grubb said. “Dead Space 2 was definitely in the plans. It had a code name. And now they're not making it.”
Ultimately, whether you believe Grubb or EA and IGN, it's sad to hear that we'll likely never get a Dead Space 2 remake. The first remake is near perfect, and we'd love to see EA Motive's take on the sequel, but for now the studio says it's committed to working on its big-budget Iron Man and Battlefield.
