How to add and remove apps from the Dock

One of the main interface elements of the experience macOS is the Dock. The Dock is at the bottom of the screen by default and is the centre of your Mac or MacBook Your. Fortunately, customizing the macOS Dock bar is very easy, and we've prepared this guide to show you how it's done.

Drag to add apps to the Dock

To quickly add an app to Dock on Mac, just drag it there. You can do this by using the app icon in the work surface or in the Applications folder.

Note: Note the part locations listed below if your Dock is vertical on the right or left side of your screen instead of horizontal.

Step 1: Select the application you want to place in your Dock.

Step 2: Drag it to the Dock and drop it where you want it. Make sure it's to the left of the divider bar for recently used apps, or in the Files and Folders section if you don't show recently used apps.

If you place it between other applications, those applications will be moved to make room.

Step 3: Then leave there the application icon in the Dock. This way, a link to the application is created. You can still have Accessed at in the original application in the Applications folder.

Drag to remove apps from the Dock

Deleting an application from Dock is as easy as adding one to it.

Step 1: Select the application you want to remove from the Dock.

Step 2: Move it out of the Dock to an empty spot on your desktop.

Step 3: When you see the word "Remove" appears above the application, release your finger from it.

This action simply removes the application from your Dock. As mentioned, the application in the Dock is simply a Link, so removing it here does not delete it from your Mac.

Remove apps from the Dock using the Options.

You can also remove a recent application in your Dock using Options.

Step 1: Right-click or tap Control and select the app in your Dock.

Step 2: Move your cursor to the Options.

Step 3: Cancel the option Keep in Dock.
