Samsung will roll out its major One UI 6.1 update starting Thursday (March 28), bringing the artificial intelligence software to users in the US.
According to a press release, owners of previous Samsung devices should start preparing to download and install the upcoming update. The company announced that the update will be available for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Fold 5, and Tab S9 models. With this update, previous-generation devices are getting closer to the Galaxy S24 series experience.

The new version of One UI, 6.1, comes with Samsung’s Galaxy AI software, bringing a wealth of features to the device. The openness to search starts with Google’s “Circle in Search.” Users can search based on anything on their Android, without having to go to Chrome or another Google app.
Users on older devices can now circle, annotate, highlight, or tap on items in images to discover more information through Google Search. You can also ask your own question to help you with your search.
Live Translate is offered through One UI 6.1, allowing users to enjoy real-time translations during phone calls.
Samsung’s Chat Assist and Generative Edit offer useful features for Galaxy device owners. Chat Assist, available via the Samsung keyboard, helps users adjust the sound of their messages and translate messages into 13 languages. The introduction of Generative Edit allows users to customize their photos with features like resizing and removing, using AI tools for image enhancements.
Galaxy AI will begin rolling out through One UI 6.1 on March 28th to previous-generation devices. Samsung said the update will be available for devices sold through various carriers, including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon , and USCC.
Additionally, devices purchased from Amazon, Best Buy , and other retailers will also receive the upgrade.

Samsung confirms in its statement that some Galaxy AI features, such as Circle to Search, require an internet connection. The company also informs users that Galaxy AI services are free, but plans to charge a fee starting in 2026
