Pharmaceutical company Cencora announced a data breach following a cyberattackin which attackers stole data from corporate systems.
Cencora, formerly known as AmerisourceBergen, specializes in pharmaceutical services and products, supplying them to doctors' offices, pharmacies and animal clinics.
In a filing with the SEC, Cencora says: “On February 21, 2024, Cencora, Inc. (the “Company”), became aware that certain data from its information systems had been extracted. Some of this data may contain personal information.”

The company says its security team took action to contain the incident and is now working with law enforcement, as well as external cybersecurity experts.
Cencora confirmed that this cyberattack is not related to the attack ransomware Optum Change Healthcare.
“We have no reason to believe there is a connection between the incident at Change and the unauthorized activity at Cencora,” Cencora told BleepingComputer.

The company said the data stolen by the hackers may include personal information. If it is true that the attackers have stolen personal data, Cencora customers may face an increased risk of fraud or identity theft.
As a result, customer trust in Cencora may be undermined, which could lead to customer loss and reduced revenue.
On the other hand, if the attackers have stolen corporate data, there is a risk that confidential information about Cencora's products will be leaked, which could lead to a loss of competitive advantage.

At this time, we do not know who is behind the cyberattack on Cencora, nor what information is affected by the data.
A ransomware group known as Lorenz had previously claimed to have breached Cencora in February 2023, while the company was operating as AmerisourceBergen.
