The biggest fighting game tournament is returning with some major upgrades to the arena at EVO 2024.

The Evolution Championship Series is the largest fighting game tournament in the world, starting in Las Vegas, Nevada every summer since 1996.
EVO is known for bringing together fighting game fans and professional players from around the world for a weekend of community and competition, creating unforgettable moments that have graced the halls of fighting game history for nearly thirty years.

Last year, EVO saw the highest number of registered players of the entire tournament, and even led to the Cannon brothers receiving the key to the city of Las Vegas – as well as having its own celebration, Evo Day, on August 6th.
Now, new details have been announced for this year's EVO, which promises a bigger and better tournament experience for fans.

This year, EVO will feature the Top 6 from each game it presents, which include Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, Mortal Kombat 1, Guilty Gear -Strive-, The King of Fighters XV, Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising, Under Night In-Birth II Sys: Celes, and a throwback to Street Fighter III: Third Strike.

Third Strike marks the second throwback game to be featured at EVO after 2023's Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, which saw a "new top-tier barrier" with 1,346 entries.
In an exciting twist, fans can now purchase a ticket that includes the final matches in the arena and exhibition area, which is now open for all three days of the EVO weekend – not just two, as in previous years, traditionally skipping the final day.
Marking a break from its usual early August dates, EVO 2024 will take place from July 19 to 21. This will be EVO's first year at the Las Vegas Convention Center, moving away from the Las Vegas Mandalay Resort and Casino for a fresh start after a massive turnout last year.

The EVO 2024 expo has also seen some big changes, including expanded exhibition days, a "groundbreaking" stage for panels and game reveals, and the largest free game in EVO history, in addition to a cosplay competition with expert judges.
Also available will be special dioramas for photos in the exhibition area, as well as a gallery of artwork from titles throughout the history of fighting games.
After a record-breaking Evo in 2023, we are excited to bring an even bigger experience to the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center for Evo 2024,” said EVO General Manager Rick Thiher in a press release. “We are in a blessed time with the release of many new fighting games, and Evo is excited to create global destinations for players and fans to celebrate them.
