Like an abandoned ship heading towards a cliff, Ubisoft's long-awaited pirate game Skull and Bones is slowly but surely approaching. The February 16th release date is still very much in the cards, and Ubisoft has announced that before it arrives, an open beta will give everyone a chance to see what it's really like.
Skull and Bones has been delayed so many times since 2017 that we hardly believed it would ever come out – and we were equally excited when the February release date was finally announced at the 2023 Game Awards.
Players will embark on a dangerous adventure facing off against legendary Pirate Lords such as Philippe La Peste and the Hubac Twins. Players will need to strategize and defeat these new threats, with each new season becoming increasingly difficult. Ship loading strategies and seasonal ship and equipment will be key to defeating them in the final showdown at the end of each season. Prepare to expand and defend your empire by looting more powerful equipment and valuable resources through new world events introduced each season. Face merchant convoys, Elite warships, and other hunters on the high seas. Greater challenges bring greater rewards as you navigate these dynamic and unpredictable waters.

The Skull and Bones open beta will begin on February 8th and run until February 11th and will be available on the Ubisoft Store and Epic Games Store , as well as on PS5 and Xbox Series XS consoles , with crossplay and cross-progression enabled .
Open beta players will be able to reach an Infamy cap at Tier 6—Ubisoft didn't say how many tiers there are, so we have no idea how "infamous" that really is—and can earn up to five exclusive rewards like ship cosmetics, an emote, a weapon, and a Pandal Lemur pet.

Any progress gained during the beta will carry over to the full version, should you choose to continue your journey.

Skull and Bones is available for pre-sale in the base version of the game for €59.99 and the premium version for €89.99 , which includes up to three days of early access , The Ballad of Bloody Bones collection , two additional missions , a digital artbook , the soundtrack , and an unlocked premium battle pass .
