Youtube: Find, Edit, and Delete Your History

It probably won't surprise you that YouTube records your viewing history, assuming you're signed in to Google .

This means you can go back to videos you want to watch again and helps improve the suggestions you receive from YouTube's algorithm.

However, you are not obligated to accept the default mode .You have the option to view history , remove items from it, or even delete completely.

Below are all the available optionsso you can customize settings and know exactly what is recorded about your viewing preferences over time.

Find your viewing history

To find watch history , open the left navigation panel and select “History.” There you can see all of your recent videos , with the most recent ones at the top. You can also use the search box to find specific videos in your history.

If you want to temporarily stop recording your history , there is an option to “Pause Watch History.” When enabled, the option changes to “Enable Watch History” to resume recording views. This can be useful, especially if you share your device or want to keep your history private.

Edit your viewing history

1. Removing a Video from Watch History:
   • Hover over the video you want to remove.
   • Click the X that appears to the right of the video.
     
2. Clearing Entire Watch History:
   • Click the “Clear all history ” link on the right.
   • Confirm your selection.
     
3. View Details of Various Activities:
   • There are options to view history , community chat, and live chat responses.
     
4. Management of all History:
   • Click “Manage all history” for a detailed breakdown of your YouTube activities
     
5. Automatic Activity Deletion:
   • You can choose to have your YouTube activity automatically deleted after a certain period of time (3, 18, or 36 months).
