The last of the American muscle car classics remains a quiet force in the background. However, as the plain CT5-V is refreshed for 2025, so too does the CT5-V Blackwing, trying a little harder to stand out.
GM (General Motors) is investing in updating a niche product and we can say that it is a pleasant surprise.

If you're not familiar with the 2025 Cadillac CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing, the former is a Sport Sedan with a turbocharged V6 engine and all-wheel drive capability , while the latter is a maniacal Super Muscle car, of course with a supercharged V8 engine , delivering 668 horsepower to the rear wheels , and will also allow you to change gears yourself in its manual transmission version .

For 2025, these two models become a little more discreet.
The most obvious change is a unique front end that should visually differentiate the striking CT5-V Blackwing from the more everyday CT5-V.

The easiest sign of distinction?
The makeup that runs from the lights to the lower grille. Speaking of grilles, they get even bigger for 2025, another telltale sign between the Blackwing and the plain V.

If you're looking for a splash of color, Cadillac has a fantastic new green called Typhoon Metallic, along with three other bold colors: Cyber Yellow Tintcoat, Coastal Blue Metallic, and Radiant Red Tintcoat. For those looking for something more subdued but equally interesting, Drift Metallic is a blue-silver that's somewhat reminiscent of BMW's Bluewater Metallic.

Aside from cosmetic changes, the real upgrades to the 2025 Cadillac CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing are on the inside, where these performance models adopt the 33-inch LED display seen in the regular CT5. Sure, that means it has a controversial illuminated logo on the back of the display, but it also means the interior shows its class. Whether this technology will age well is hard to say, but it's certainly a step up from the old layout.

Cadillac really didn't need to refresh the CT5-V Blackwing because it's the last manual V8 Sport Sedan on the market, and Cadillac is proud of that. The brand said that when it comes to the CT5-V Blackwing, "Over 50% of our buyers out there choose the manual transmission." Yep. We probably won't get another new Sedan like these, so we might as well enjoy the taste while we can.
We can only hope the CT4-V Blackwing lives long enough to see a similar refresh. Cadillac is going all-electric by 2030, which means the life cycles of these performance sedans are finite. Regardless of what happens to its little brother, the CT5-V Blackwing, let's celebrate these sedans while they're still here.
