Following the recent launch of a new real-time video calling feature for iOS and Android users , popular messaging platform WhatsApp is reportedly introducing a new change to the app's settings in order to improve the management of this feature.

“WhatsApp continues to work on new improvements related to video messaging. Specifically, after installing the latest WhatsApp update for iOS 23.18.1.70 from the TestFlight app and WhatsApp update for Android 2.23.18.21 from the Google Play Store, some beta testers may notice a new option directly in the app’s settings,” WABetaInfo reported.
The screenshot shared by WABetaInfo revealed that it is now possible to manage the video sharing feature via instant messages. Previously, this feature could not be disabled as it was enabled by default. However, thanks to the new toggle, users now have full control over this feature and can disable it if they wish.
The report suggested that introducing this change could be beneficial for some users, as there are people who prefer using voice notes over direct video messages. With this change, the Meta gives users the option to completely disable this feature, while ensuring the ability to continue receiving video messages.

"Even if you don't plan on disabling video messages, it's a good idea to take a look at this feature, as some users reported finding it disabled despite having sent video messages in the past," he noted.
The ability to switch between managing video direct messages is now available to some beta. Those who have installed the latest version of WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store or WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight can take advantage of it. Additionally, the feature will be available to more people in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the instant messaging app is also testing a new multi-account feature that aims to fulfill a long-standing request from users—allowing them to add a different account to the same device without the need for parallel or cloned apps.
The Meta-owned app also reveals a redesigned settings interface—offering a more modern experience when navigating the instant messaging app's various options.
