How to make group video calls using WhatsApp on Mac

Meta has announced the new and improved WhatsApp app for macOS. The updated app brings a slew of new features, including a complete redesign to match the operating system's design language. The updated version of WhatsApp for Mac is also a big departure from the web.whatsapp.com-based app.

However, the biggest advantage of the new app is that users can now get the latest updates and newer features on their Mac as well, including the ability to make and receive group calls – both audio and video.

Update the WhatsApp app

The first thing you need to do is uninstall the old WhatsApp app. Then, go to WhatsApp.com/download. Click the Download button under the Mac option.

Install the WhatsApp application on your Mac by double-clicking on it and dragging the WhatsApp icon to the Applications folder.

After installing the app, set it up using the “Linked Devices” option on your phone and scan the QR code that appears on the screen.

Once WhatsApp is installed and running, you are ready to make group audio and video calls.

Create group calls by manually selecting contacts.

1. Click on the Call icon in the left menu
2. Then, tap on the New call icon at the top and select New group call
3. Select contacts (up to 8 for video and up to 32 for audio)
4. Select Audio or Video from the bottom of the pop-up window to make the call.
5. Make group calls within the WhatsApp group

Another option to make group video or audio calls on WhatsApp is through existing groups.
