Call of Duty developers have faced backlash from players, as the Season 4 Reloaded update appears to have exacerbated performance issues, especially on PC, for those playing both Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2.

The size of new Call of Duty updates is often quite an impressive sight. They usually take up the most space on your hard drive, with each new season, the file size tends to expand as the developers introduce new maps, features and of course a wide range of cosmetics.
With so many moving parts, not everything goes according to plan in these usual transitions. Every now and then, some game-breaking bugs or small, more amusing quirks can slip through the cracks. However, with the most recent case, more dire issues have surfaced.
Shortly after the highly anticipated Season 4 Reloaded patch was released on July 12, players were quick to report widespread performance issues. It appears to have primarily affected the PC community, with many noticing a drastic drop in performance after the latest update.
Call of Duty players took to social media in the hours following the release of the new content to report their issues. “Lower FPS after today’s update?” asked one player on the Modern Warfare 2 subreddit. “God awful FPS?” said another on the Warzone subreddit.

At the time of writing, no specific piece of kit seems to be causing issues. Instead, performance issues seem to be widespread for PC gamers, regardless of their build type.
"For me, it's no longer playable after the update," one player added to the discussion, with many others echoing the same sentiment in response: "-50% FPS after the patch.".
"It basically made it impossible to play," added another. "It was [at] 120FPS [now] it's down to 60-80. WTF."
Immediately recognizing the backlash, the developers were quick to respond to these concerns on Twitter. While no specific details were given, the official CoD Updates Twitter account confirmed that the team is now “investigating” the widespread performance issues on PC.
With the issue logged on the Modern Warfare 2 public Trello board, rest assured that the developers are working on the issue and are working to fix the situation as soon as possible.
