STAT Health, a digital health startup, has developed a device that helps people better understand the reasons behind symptoms like dizziness, fainting, and brain.

On Tuesday, STAT Health announced its new wearable ear device, called STAT, that measures blood flow to the head. When users stand up, the headset automatically acquires information about changes in heart rate, blood pressure, and blood flow. This information is useful for patients who suffer from frequent dizziness and fainting due to conditions like long-term Covid and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), among others.
Users can track their health metrics on an app on mobile phone and collect information about their lifestyle and how it affects their symptoms. According to a recent publication in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, the STAT headset has been shown to predict the onset of fainting minutes before it happens.

Daniel Lee, the CEO of STAT Health, explained that the wearable cannot be used for diagnosis or treatment, but it can help monitor symptoms for those patients who often state that their symptoms are not real.
Lee explained how STAT will provide patients with information so they can decide when to push themselves and when not to.
The wearable STAT is a small earpiece that sits in the upper corner of the ear. Its placement means it's compatible with most other devices like headphones or glasses that sit in or around the ear. Lee said the device is designed for comfort, and users can even use it while showering or sleeping.

The headset includes an optical sensor, an accelerometer, a pressure sensor, and temperature sensors. The battery lasts for more than three days and also has a small solar panel. This means that some users may not even need to take it out to charge it. STAT Health has announced that it aims to charge a $50 monthly subscription fee for the device and plans to lower the cost in the future for subscribers who are long-term subscribers to service .
