Claude AI: New chatbot from former OpenAI employees

Anthropic, founded by former OpenAI employees Daniela and Dario Amodei, has launched its own AI chatbot, named Claude. Anthropic has tested the chatbot with other tech companies like DuckDuckGo, Quora, and Notion, and is ready to work with other clients who want to include a “useful” chatbot in their own products.

After the success of ChatGPT, it seems like all other chatbots are a waste of time. Google's attempt to introduce Bard went down the drain after Bard gave a wrong answer during a public demonstration. While Microsoft is being pushed to add GPT AI technology to its products, Anthropic on the other hand has been very careful with its announcement of the arrival of the chatbot, thus showing confidence in their product.

How Claude

When Anthropic was founded in 2021 by former OpenAI employees, they included GPT-3's lead engineer, Tom Brown. So there are many similarities in its creation and training methods, but the founders claim that they have used a list of rules and principles to train the AI model, which they refer to as Constitutional AI.

Unlike Microsoft, which has been known to break the rules and cause AI to become aggressive, Anthropic built Claude and trained it to be helpful and politely reject potentially harmful questions. According to their website, they achieved this by further training the chatbot during reinforcement learning with another model to make the chatbot harmless but not intrusive.

To test Claude's effectiveness, Anthropic gave access to other companies. Among them, DuckDuckGo , which uses the technology to launch a search tool for its users. Google also found their technology useful and invested $300 million in Anthropic last year.

Now, Claude will be released in two versions, Standard and Instant. The latter provides a faster, lighter and more affordable way to add AI technology to your products. The company suggests that the chatbot can be used across searches, customer service, sales and even for behind-the-desk tasks.

Claude is designed to be self-contained and not require internet access. For improvements, prompts are the best way to train Claude on what is required outside of tasks. Additionally, it can have personality and tone, something Microsoft is working on in its own chatbot.
