Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25247 for the Dev channel of the Windows Insider program. Some of the changes included in this update are ones we’ve already seen in other testing channels, such as a search bar in Task Manager and cloud found in the Settings app. In addition to the changes mentioned above, a change is also being tested that will show websites in the “Suggested” section of the Start menu alongside recent documents.

Microsoft announced in a blog post that it is working on adding more content to the Recommended section of the Start Menu, which will now include websites. “Initially, we will send you common websites from your region or that match your browsing history, to make it easier for you to find and revisit the sites you care about.”

If you right-click on a website, there is an option to hide it from the Start Menu. You can also remove websites from the Start Menu entirely. This is unrelated to installing web apps to the Start Menu (using Edge ,Chrome , or some other browsers), which appear in the apps list and not in the Featured section.

It might be useful to show a website or two in the Recommended section, especially for those who use Microsoft Edge as their primary browser. For example, it doesn’t seem to be able to read history from other browsers. However, it could get worse if Microsoft decides to use it for advertising. Microsoft has already started showing ads in web browsers likeEdge and Firefox, and it’s not afraid to put some ads in other areas of Windows as well.
