Qualcomm, the company that makes Snapdragon processors, wanted to achieve great success by launching its first smartphone, priced at $1,500, a device designed by Asus that is supposedly aimed at the smartest Snapdragon fans. However, almost a year after its release, the Snapdragon Insiders smartphone still runs Android 11 and has not received a security patch update since the January update, as first reported by XDA Developers (via Android Police).

Qualcomm last year released the “Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders”, which cost $1,500, but it remained forgotten for updates for months.
A Reddit thread last week drew attention to the fact that Qualcomm has been leaving its Snapdragon Insiders phone essentially without updates. The last update arrived in March, and even then it only delivered the January 2022 security patch, leaving the phone almost six months out of date.

This is clearly an issue and was a cause for concern especially based on what Qualcomm promised when was released . In a tweet about the launch, Qualcomm said that Insiders would receive regular security updates for four years, with Android 11 out of the box.
Almost a year after that, the device still doesn't have Android 12, but perhaps the biggest problem is that security updates aren't reaching the device.
Asus, which manufactures and maintains the device, kept a changelog that shows that regular updates arrived almost every month between August and December 2021, but stopped a little later.
This situation, however, will be resolved soon. As XDA noted, an update in this Reddit thread from a Qualcomm representative confirmed that the next update for the Snapdragon Insiders phone is coming on June 20. It did not specify which security code update will be delivered, but we hope it will be in June.

Unfortunately, however, this situation does not seem to improve much. Along with the confirmation of an update that will arrive in June, Qualcomm reported that the device will receive «regular» updates every 2-3 months.
That's well behind the pace of Google Pixel or Samsung Galaxy , and it's certainly disappointing to see on a device that bears the Qualcomm name. Worse, it's on a device that costs $1,500 — Samsung and Google provide monthly updates for devices less than 25% of that cost.
