Amazon said it plans to deliver products by drone to residents' yards in Lockeford, California, and will use feedback from the service to improve its system . The company also said its drone technology can detect and fly around obstacles like chimneys, so it doesn't encounter problems during flights.
“It can also detect moving objects on the horizon, such as other aircraft, even when they are difficult for humans to see,” Amazon said. “If obstacles are detected, our drone will automatically change course to safely.” The drone also makes sure there are no people, animals or other obstacles at the delivery location, the company said.
