With iOS 15 released earlier this month, these cities received a 3D update with major landmarks digitally recreated in vivid, stunning detail. Coit Tower, Dodger Stadium, the Statue of Liberty, and the Royal Albert Hall are just a few of the iconic locations that practically leap off the screen.
At night, these structures (and others) glow on the iPhone screen. Below, the Statue of Liberty is illuminated against a dark night backdrop.

It's not just the famous views that are 3D-rendered. Other parts of cities are displayed in similarly realistic detail, such as city centers, marinas, waterfronts, and everyday office buildings.
Later this year, 3D projections will expand to Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and San Diego. Next year, Canada will get its due, with the most detailed map coming to Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver.

The new look in Apple Maps is available with the iOS 15 update. When you use the app for driving directions, the street details with the new 3D look are also live.
