MG, which began in the automotive industry in 1924, is a British company that has been evolving ever since. After decades of innovation as MG Cars, the company saw a series of different successors starting in the 1950s. In 2006, Nanjing Automobile Group acquired MG, before being absorbed by SAIC Motor a year later.

Since then, the MG Motor brand has been relaunched and produces vehicles designed at its original London facility and manufactured in China. MG Motor's first reborn vehicles were launched a decade ago, but it wasn't until 2018 that the first EV model, called the MG ZS, was launched.

Since then, it has launched an electric version of the MG5 hatchback, as well as PHEV versions of its existing models. Additionally, MG Motor showcased an electric sports car called the MG E-Motion at the 2017 Shanghai Motor Show, but it never went into production. Now, the company looks set to unveil another concept this month, the MG Cyberster.

MG shared information about the Cyberster via a press release, which will feature classic round “Magic Eye” headlights that open when activated, as well as a slim design. Its features are reminiscent of the original MGB Roadster from the 1960s.

The MG Cyberster will feature an LED strip down the sides of the car. In addition, LED taillights are integrated into the car, presenting “a digital image reminiscent of MG’s British heritage.”.

According to the company, the MG Cyberster will offer a range of 800 kilometers and will accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than three seconds. In addition, the electric car will feature 5G connectivity.

That's all the information that's been released so far. MG promises to reveal more details about the Cyberster during its official debut at the 2021 Shanghai Motor Show, which will take place from April 21-28.
