The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued new rules for remotely piloted dronesin the United States. The FAA says the new rules are “the next exciting step in the safe integration of drones.” They will be like a license plate that will help identify the approximately 1.5 million drones used by the government.
The FAA document is available online. Drone operators and general aviation safety will have two months to provide feedback to the FAA on the new rules.
According to the Secretary of Transportation, drones are the technology fastest growing transportation
“It is vital to integrate safely into the national airspace”, said the minister.
The aim of the rules is to provide more security in high- risk such as airports and stadiums, but also in airspace in general.
“It is a significant building block in the ecosystem of remote traffic management”.

The ability to identify and track manned and unmanned aircraft is important. It can provide critical information to law enforcement and other organizations tasked with protecting public safety.
DJI says it is “rethinking” the drone proposal, although two years ago it created its own remote identification system (AeroScope). The technology was able to help pilots flying too close to problem areas.
“DJI has long supported a remote identification system that provides security and information to authorities,” said the company, Brendan Schulman.
