Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced the company 's new vehicle , the Cybertruck , a few days ago . On Sunday, he took to Twitter to report the astonishing number of pre-orders that have been placed in the first week.
Already, 146,000 people have placed pre-orders. On Thursday night, Musk said that 42% of people who pre-ordered chose the $49,900 dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) model, while 41% chose the $69,900 tri-motor AWD. The single-motor Cybertruck , which costs $39,900, was selected by 17% of people.
Musk stressed that these pre-orders were achieved “without advertising or promotion by any celebrity.” A few hours later, pre-orders reached 200,000.
However, many people have expressed their dislike for the Cybertruck's "harsh design" with its sharp angles, but Musk said there was a reason for choosing this design. He also said that the vehicle is made of a steel alloy that is very strong. The same material will be used by SpaceX in its upcoming Starship rocket.
Fans of Tesla's new vehicle will have to wait a year to get their hands on the car, as production will begin in late 2021 for the dual-motor and single-motor models. The tri-motor model won't be available until 2022.
Musk also said that the Cybertruck will be available in matte black ,and showed in a video how the Cybertruck managed to pull a Ford F-150 towards it. The two vehicles were tied together with a chain. As you can see in the video below, the Cybertruck was the one who managed to win the battle and pull the F-150.

The CEO of Tesla had said since last year that this new model of the company will be better than the F-150 (as a truck) and than the Porsche 911 (as a sports car).
