Huawei had a tough 2019, with the US trade war against it affecting smartphone sales and the company itself. But that hasn't stopped it from breaking its sales record.

Huawei just announced that it shipped over 200 million smartphones worldwide in 2019. That's a huge leap from its previous record, and given the trade war and sanctions it has been facing since last year, the number defies all expectations. What's even more impressive, though, is that the company reached 200 million 64 days earlier than in 2018, and 2019 isn't even over yet.
Huawei's strong shipment volume is likely due to its strong performance in China, as Google Mobile Services, which it has been banned from integrating, is not used in the country. The shipments can also be attributed to strong global performance in the first quarter of the year, as well as solid performance in the second quarter until the ban was announced mid-quarter.
The company still has two months until the end of the year, so it's likely that the final number of smartphones shipped in 2019 will be significantly higher.
