
The European Data Protection Supervisor ( EDPS) has been dealing with Microsoft lately , as it says it has “ serious concerns ” about Microsoft’s contracts with the European Union institutions. The commission believes that some improvements can be made to ensure greater regulations protection data compliance with .
In its review of Microsoft's contracts with the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security, the committee said there was "significant room for improvement." The improvements concern contracts with all European Union institutions.
The committee claims that changes should also be made to Microsoft's contracts with public and private sector organizations as well as with EU citizens.
"Although the investigation is ongoing, preliminary results reveal serious concerns about the compliance of contracts with data protection regulations and about products and services in the European institutions," the committee said.

The investigation into Microsoft products and their use by EU institutions began in April after eight GDPR violations were identified, related to ProPlus and Office 365.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into effect in May 2018. rules help give users more control over their personal data.
Microsoft said it would make the necessary changes to comply with the committee's requirements.
“We are committed to helping customers comply with GDPR,”the company said.
"We are in discussions with our clients in the EU institutions and will soon announce the necessary changes that will address concerns, such as those raised by the EDPS.".
