From now on, the YouTube Music app will be preinstalled on Android 9 and Android 10 devices.

It appears that Google is putting another nail in the coffin of Google Music Play as it stops being preinstalled on Android devices and, in its place, brings YouTube Music.
In May 2018, Google announced YouTube Music. At the time, the app came in two flavors: a free version with ads and a paid version called YouTube Music Premium. The free version lives and reigns, and it seems the company is further promoting it.
So this app is going to replace the Google Music Play app. Google announced the transition in an article on the official YouTube blog.
Currently, Google Music Play is pre-installed and YouTube Music can be installed manually from the Play Store. But soon, the opposite will happen.
If you have visited YouTube recently, you will have seen ads for YouTube Music. Google heavily advertises YouTube Music, so expect the change very soon. We are not sure what is preventing Google from fully shutting down Google Music Play, since it doesn't have much traffic. Anyway, this company decision leads toward that.
