Search engine DuckDuckGo announced yesterday that it has started using Apple's MapKit JS framework
The change is already available for desktop and mobile devices that use DuckDuckgo for their searches.
What does this mean?

DuckDuckGo cites two main benefits resulting from the change: the first, of course, is improved privacy but also better mapping functionality.
Yes, the change essentially dumps the OpenStreetMap maps that the company previously used for Apple's mapping service. All searches for addresses, geographic locations, local businesses, business types, or nearby places will now come from the MapKit JS framework.
DuckDuckGo, as you may know, is a search engine that invests in privacy. This played a major role in the decision to switch to a mapping service.
The company states in its announcement that all users' IP addresses or any other personal data are not shared with Apple or any other third party.
