Intel recently released two security updates for its software and hardware products to fix vulnerabilities related to obtaining privileges and information from hackers.
The softwareaffects Intel's Easy Streaming Wizard, a tool created to help Twitch and YouTubeeasily set up Open Broadcaster Software, the streaming.
The vulnerability, codenamed CVE-2019-11166, was reported by Karthikeyan Selvaraj and is rated as moderate severity. This flaw alone could be used by an aspiring hacker to escalate privileges through an attack.
As an Intel spokesperson stated, the vulnerability is caused by improper files in their Easy Streaming Wizard installer. Of course, for a high-severity attack, elevated privileges are required. Even if this reduces the risk of such an attack, an experienced hacker would be able to continue exploiting the flaw unhindered, especially since no user.
That's why Intel recommends that users update Easy Streaming Wizard to at least version 2.1.0731. This can be done with the Windows 10 update packages available on Intel's website
The flaw, which has now been found in the hardware , has been present in the company's products since 2012. It has the code CVE-2019-11184 and is considered low severity with a score of just 2.6. In essence, it could allow certified hackers to partially disclose information.
