America's relationship with Chinese smartphone manufacturers is probably more or less well-known to everyone. Huawei, in this case, has been a target of the American government several times. It started with some minor restrictions and ended up being excluded from major technology funds. The biggest exclusion it has had to face is that of the Android operating system .

Of course, the company could not sit idly by as it aims to continue creating smartphones and gadgets and is looking for alternatives. Thus, it seems to be in talks with Russia, with the aim of starting a pilot program to replace Android with the Russian operating system "Aurora" when it can no longer use it
The plan for now is for Huawei to install Aurora OS on all tablets that will be used in Russia's 2020 population census.
Aurora OS, developed by Finnish company Jolla and focused on security and privacy, is owned by state-owned telecommunications company Rostelecom, which is also the company that will be selecting the tablets to be used in the 2020 census.

If everything goes as planned, Huawei is expected to install Aurora OS on 360,000 tablets by August next year, gradually replacing Android.
Huawei is already in the process of creating its own operating system. Harmony OS, which is still in development and at this stage is intended for IoT, but if the need arises, it could soon completely replace Android.
